Bo Schembeckler in Critical Condition

Bo collapsed during interview, hospital reporting he is in critical condition.
It's the breaking news on ESPN2 Cold Pizza.

How will this news affect Mich. in Saturdays game?

Update: Bo Schembechler has passed away.

Re: Bo Schembechler has passed away!!!

Wow, bad news. Just an amazing coincidence that this would happen the day before one of the biggest games in Michigan football history.

Affect on the big game? I guess it could go either way. It could take the palyers/coaches focus away from the task at head... or it could be the emotional motivation they need to beat a team that's better than them on paper.

I picked OSU to win but this is so big it really could impact the outcome.

Either way, a sad, sad day for Michigan football.

Cool Re: Bo Schembechler has passed away!!!

I don't think it will have an impact on the game. If the game was in Michigan it would, but since it's at Ohio St., it won't.

You don't think this couldn't affect the Mich. players, maybe giving the the inspiration to pull off the upset...or that it might not take some of the sting out of the home team crowd?

Re: Bo Schembechler has passed away!!!

I disagree with the Pundit. This will have a HUGE impact on the game. Bo himself was such an instrumental figure in so many of these epic match-ups, not to mention the fact that he was an assistant with the Buckeyes under Woody and above all one of the legends of college football. Definitely there will be some sort of pregame tribute to this coaching giant, and the mood, especially early on, will be quite somber, I promise you.

R.I.P. Bo. He'll be missed.

It does take a damper out of the game tomorrow but it also will add some intrigue...hopefully that doesn't sound too bad.

Re: Bo Schembechler has passed away!!!

Good article in the Detroit Free Press today about how, with football season starting, it's almost like losing Bo all over again. "Schembechler's office was in the building," writes author Mark Snyder, "and he would jab at players as he passed them in the hall. Watching practice, he would still get agitated by a drill or an outcome. And he was always around to talk, sitting in his office many mornings, answering phone calls, conducting interviews and visiting with friends and former players."
