Michigan Wolverines @ Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Big, big game here between a pair of unbeaten, ranked teams that are traditional powerhouses. It's Michigan vs. Notre Dame. Brady Quinn, Darius Walker and Rhema McKnight against Chad Henne, Mike Hart and Steve Breaston. Should be a real barnburner. How do you guys predict this one turning out on Saturday?

Well it's tied in the 1st after Brady Quinn got picked off and it was returned for a score. Then he comes back and throws a TD pass to McConnell to even things up.

Re: Michigan Wolverines @ Notre Dame Fighting Irish

as a wvu fan i was hoping the top 4 teams would lose so wvu could move up, but i dunno people might have to consider michigan for the top 4 before wvu, this is a very impressive first half so far lets see how the second half goes

Total domination by the Wolverines. The Michigan defense forced five turnovers, Henne threw for three touchdowns, Hart ran for 120 yards and a score... either Michigan was awesome, or the Irish were way, way overrated, because this one was a total woodshed job.

Re: Michigan Wolverines @ Notre Dame Fighting Irish

My goodness did Michigan look like a completey four star team or what. Notre Dame appeared like they didn't even belong on the field. Tough game for Quinn. Henne shined and Lloyd Carr needed a statement game like this.

Tough loss for the Irish who hoped to compete for a National Title this year. They still can, don't get me wrong, but this is a tough loss.

Re: Michigan Wolverines @ Notre Dame Fighting Irish

What kills me is how good this Wolverines team is on defense. Before the season, I don't recall anyone hyping up the Michigan D at all, but they looked phenomenal out there yesterday. Makes me think they could run the table up to the Ohio State game. Could be a battle of Top 5 unbeatens at that point, who knows?

Re: Michigan Wolverines @ Notre Dame Fighting Irish

With the new Def. coordinator, the intesity seems to be much higher than last year. I am so happy that we will not have to worry about Michigan running that prevent defense (which lost them the OSU game last year) anymore.

Yep, I agree completely - that defense was lights out, and I imagine the coaching did have something to do with it. What's the coordinators name, English, right? What's his story? Didn't he use to coach at Illinois or something?

Re: Michigan Wolverines @ Notre Dame Fighting Irish

He coached at ASU and San Diego St before he came to Michigan. He has been at Michigan for 4 years, spending his first 3 seasons there coaching the defensive secondary. The question now is, can he prevent the "let down" against Wisconsin this week?
