| Spartans Win 2007 NCAA Hockey Title It is probable that most of you don't care much about collegiate hockey, but MSU defeated Boston College, 3-1, on Saturday, April 7, to win the NCAA Hockey Tournament (the Frozen Four) in St. Louis. It was the Spartans' third NCAA hockey championship, the other two coming in 1966 and 1986. What was interesting about this one was that the team finished in fourth place in the Central Collegiate Hockey League, and none of the players made even honorable mention in the CCHA's all-league balloting. There were no stars, except perhaps for diminutive goalie Jeff Lerg, just great team play. |
