| John L. Smith fired This just in off the wire -- Michigan State coach John L. Smith will not return next season. "The performance on the field has not lived up to what we hoped it would be," athletic director Ron Mason told reporters at a Wednesday press conference. "It comes time to make a change, and that's where we're at." Reactions to the Smith firing?
