UM tackle Dixon to spend night in hospital

University of Miami football player Antonio Dixon was transported to Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables during practice Wednesday.

University of Miami football player Antonio Dixon was in good condition after being admitted to Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables on Wednesday morning, apparently suffering from the effects of the sun and intense heat during practice.

Dixon was transported to the hospital via ambulance toward the end of Wednesday's practice session and ''is expected to remain overnight to finalize precautionary testing in determining cause,'' according to a statement released late Wednesday afternoon by UM sports information spokesman Kerwin Lonzo.
