UM 2007 Recruiting

My '07 UM recruiting recap

Following a nausiating season filled with shootings, defeats, game-stopping brawls, suspensions, firings, hirings, and the death of a teammate, Randy Shannon and the Hurricanes still managed to pull off a recruiting class loaded with potential.

18 in all. 3 five-star, 9 four-star, 4 three-star, and 2 two-star recruits (as ranked by Scout.com) seniors will come to the 'U' to play football.

Highlights:

Allen Bailey - LB/DE - 6'3, 260 lbs., 4.8-40, out of Georgia.

Graig Cooper - RB - 5'11, 185 lbs., 4.65-40 out of Memphis.

DeMarcus Van Dyke - WR - 6'1, 157 lbs., 4.35-40 out of Miami.

Robert Marve - QB - 6'2, 190 lbs., 4.70-40 out of Tampa.

Kayne Farquharson - WR - 6'2, 190 lbs., 4.4-40 out of Miami (El Camino JC)

A lot of other very promising prospects that, admittedly, I don't know much about. Many of these guys will see a good amount of playing time next season.

Randy Shannon arguably had the most successful recruiting this year of all incoming coaches. UNC fans might have something to say about that, though.

Comments welcomed...

Re: UM 2007 Recruiting

I like what Coach Shannon said over at Miami's website: ""We wanted high-quality people first and foremost. Second, we wanted solid student-athletes, players who will work in the classroom... And we wanted winners from winning high school programs. We're excited about this class. From top to bottom we filled our needs. We will have a lot of competition this year." I like what he's trying to build down there and I hope this program winds up being successful under him.
