Gators - Hurricanes Rivalry

Looks like Florida and Miami are all set to renew their one-time rivalry. The Gators and Hurricanes, who from 1938 to 1987 met 53 times, have scheduled a home and home series to take place in 2008 and 2013. The Gators will host the Hurricanes on Sept. 6, 2008, and UF will travel to the Orange Bowl to conclude the series on Sept. 7, 2013. For the record, Miami holds a 28-25 all-time lead in the series, and has won each of the past 6 meetings.

This is a positive for both programs, although the gators have some work to do before the Canes truly fear them as a rival again.

Cool Re: Gators - Hurricanes Rivalry

By 2003 those two teams wil lbe begging to play UCF...hey, I can dream can't I?...the school was good enough for Dante and good enough for me...and its time for a change in Florida anyway...I mean its years of Hurricanes this, FSU that, Gators, yada, yada, yada...

Hey if UCF lowers its admissions standards, and looks the other way on criminal charges, we be up there with the other 3 schools...

Yeah, well, in the meantime...sure good deal...Gators-Hurricane...why not?...keep the school money in the state...its all good.

They need to have a trophy that all Florida schools play for each year.

Re: Gators - Hurricanes Rivalry

Seems like these two teams are constantly switching power positions in terms of who is the team to beat in Florida (We will just pretend FSU doesn't exist for the sake of this thread).
Obviously the U was the team too beat in the 80's and early 90's. UF thrived in the mid-late 90's, then Butch Davis rebuilt The Canes program, went to Cleveland and Larry Coker cherry picked a national title. Now the situation is reversed once again. UF has the best young coach in the game and recruited the best class in the country, meanwhile Miami is on the downswing once again because Larry Coker is the most inept and overrated coach in the country. How about that LSU-Miami bowl game, huh? Don't worry Miami, Meyer will be in The NFL within the next 5-10 years.

Rivalry?

2004: Miami 27 Florida 10
2003: Miami 38 Florida 33
2002: Miami 41 Florida 16
2000: Miami 37 Florida 20 [Sugar Bowl, played in Jan 2001]

Doesn't sound like much of a Rivalry when a team hasn't won a game in the series in over 20 years. Of course, there was that stretch between '86-'99 where the Gators decided that they would lose *cough* revenue *cough* if they played the Canes.

Now, now Grozny just cause you have logged over +14,000 posts in the Miami Hurrican offical Website, and have built a shire to your team at home doesn't mean you should mock the rivalry...take the high road now...leave the little Gators alone in their Swamp...go on now bro...go pick on another sport...(PS, mom loves me best )

I think to agree with Grozny. The Gators have been close once against the Canes the last four meetings and they blew a HUGE lead in that game. North Carolina has beaten the Canes more then the Gators in the last 20 years. Now thats a rivalry!!
