| Miami didn't have to look far for its new head coach. A university source told the Miami Herald that defensive coordinator Randy Shannon accepted the position Thursday. An announcement is scheduled for Friday. Shannon, 40, replaces Larry Coker, who was fired last month after six seasons. Shannon becomes the sixth black head coach in Division I football. | Re: Miami Hurricanes have a new coach!! If I were Shannon, I think I would be a little offended. They had him the whole time, and went looking elsewhere. They were turned down, and then they looked to him. Is this going to ba an actual hiring, or are they just using him until a higher profile name shows interest. |
