Re: Bernie Kosar interested in UM job

Kosar has no coaching experience, but he often serves as a mentor to quarterbacks at Miami. He retired from the NFL after a 12-year career with the Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins

The Man should get himself some experience at a lower level first...UM is a big job

Re: Bernie Kosar interested in UM job

hey, their situation could not be any worst than it was this year.

6-6
on field brawl
player get's killed

Maybe bringing back a fan favorite legend will help the team or atleast make the boosters feel good.

or maybe it gets them a 5-7 season with a double homicide and a pre-game brawl...it could go either way...

That's wrong, but funny. Very funny.

I think the UM job is a lot like the BAMA job. It's very overrated. They have poor facilities, they get a lot of kids that do not know how to control themselves. And the boosters have unrealistic expectations for the coach.

Re: Bernie Kosar interested in UM job

I dont know about overrated as far as Miami. Its a football program expected to win, expected to out perform its other Floridian rivals. The boosters expect the coach to post a 1-2 loss season every year. In reality this is what we would all like for our teams. They also want a winning program in the top tier of NCAAF to have power in swaying the country's top talents from heading over to FSU or FU. I know if I was a top prospect coming out of High School I really wouldnt think about Miami as a choice right now. Coaching turmoil and a dismal 6-6 record. You have to stay on top, this is very realistic. Anyway Coker kinda set the bar high when he won a National Championship his first year coaching at the U

If by overrated you mean 5 titles since 1983 and I think a 70-16 record (could be off by a win or two) since 2001...then yeah, its an overrated program.

I doubt fan expectations and boosters) are no worse than say the North Carolina basketball program...

Though a course in Anger Management 101 might help the players...

Re: Bernie Kosar interested in UM job

We def have high expectations for our program. But at the same time, we require a higher standard of our players (i.e. JamesOn Curry who was not allowed to play for UNC because of an arrest for 6 drug related felony charges Scout.com: JamesOn Curry arrested . He now plays for Oklahoma State.) UNC doesn't allow that mess. Mike Mason was dismissed from the team this year for a drug infraction is now playing at Tennessee State.

Yes we have our share, but they don't last long.
