Canes begin search for new coach!!! I found this little nugget, and thought the anti-Coker, true Canes fans would be inerested in reading it: Iowa State Cyclones, NCAA Football, Miami (Fla.) Hurricanes, Michigan State Spartans - CBS SportsLine.com

Re: Canes begin search for new coach!!! Yea the Spurrier thread came up just after I had posted this thread. I'm as shocked and suprised as everyone, it came out of no where. I think he would be an excellent fit at Miami.

Re: Canes begin search for new coach!!! There's talk of Norm Chow being that NFL assistant they contacted. I'd be all for him. There are also a lot of rumors flying around that Steve Spurrier may be interested. I'm not sure how I feel about that, but it raises an interesting point. A lot of people ask why a big name would want to take over that train wreck, but the talent is still there. Miami will always have a draw of talent coming out of Florida, thus always capable of achieving top-tier teams. Look at how Butch turned it around. The point is, a big name like Spurrier would be able to come into this program with complete control. Granted, I don't think Miami will shell out the money for that kind of move, but I can see how the bigger dogs may be interested. With a truly great coach, Miami could be back in the NC hunt in 2-3 seasons. Probably the most frustrating part of this year's team is watching all the talent go to waste. This is the same team that nearly every paid College FB analyst predicted to finish in the top 8. I'm sure Darth Visor would love to have one more shot at a NC before he's over the hill... something that's not going to happen with his current team. Oh well, at least it's got the Gator fans freaking out. Last edited by WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot : 11-19-2006 at 11:39 AM. Reason: my grammar suck

Re: Canes begin search for new coach!!! I was sort of hoping to see Schiano come to Miami, but after the way he demonstrated his ability to choke under pressure and make some bad "panic" play calling against the Bearcats, he can stay at Rutgers.

Re: Canes begin search for new coach!!! Miami and Spurrier are both denying that he would coach the Canes or that the Canes were looking to replace Coker. There is a link to the article in the "Surrier to Coach Canes" thread.
