Olsen new Offensive Coordinator

From the Associated Press:
"Former Miami Hurricanes assistant coach Rich Olson rejoined the program Friday as offensive coordinator. Olson was on former coach Dennis Erickson's staff at Miami as receivers coach in 1992, quarterbacks coach in 1993 and offensive coordinator-quarterbacks coach in 1994."

What do you Canes fans think of this hire? Coker's on the hot seat, so it seems like anyone he can brink back from the so-called "glory days" of Miami football would be a good idea.

Re: Olsen new Offensive Coordinator

Olson was not only the QB/OC of the Canes during the '91-'94 years but also coached in the pros. His last job was as the QB coach for the Viks in 2005. Also, Olson was the OC when Trent Dilfer was playing in Fresno State. I believe he is an improvement from Werner, though I would have preferred if they went with someone like Steve Sarkisian, QB coach of USC. Granted, Sarkisian hasn't been an official OC, but I believe we need fresh ideas and a young/talented candidate like him.

Re: Olsen new Offensive Coordinator

I thought Coker went the safe route with Olsen. Someone he's familiar with and the program is familiar with as well. With his neck around the noose, he wasn't about to take a chance on someone new and unproven.

I like Coker. I think he's a classy guy. Unfortunately at the "U" all they care about is winning and even that doesn't seem to satisfy them most times.
