| Miami Hurricanes The "U" Okay, well Larry Coker is a complete idiot. He should have fired himself. Coker inherited a team built by Butch Davis and has guided it into the ground like Enron stock shares. True, he did win a championship - but look at the players he had. I think even Rich Kottite could have won with that group. Over the years his conservative play calling and obvious unpreparadness has been evident. Coker needs to go! |

| Coker I think everything you mentioned Noob is a problem with Coker. Even when he was winning, myself and my fellow Cane alums used to sit back and scratch our heads. Why was this game even close? What is he doing? Why is the play-calling so predictible? What the hell is he thinking? - These were all common questions. The recruiting class was soft - but you can't really tell how a season is going to go because of the recruiting class. Some of the 3 and 4 star players will turn out better than blue chippers. Remember Magic Benton. There's a bunch of players that come out of nowhere - plus Miami does have a vast amount of talent returning. The Canes will be fine at RB, OL, and QB on offense. The WR position is pretty crappy and they didn't really help themselves in that area. I think you'll see a couple of the talented RB's they've recruited make the position switch to WR. On defense all is good. The Canes, despite their lackluster effort in the Peach Bowl (and lackluster is an understatement) return a strong defense very deep on the line. The linebackers and secondary are also very talented. If the offense could get out of its own way, the defense wouldn't have to carry so much of the burden. I predict Miami will probably lose 2 games, but with any great program, have a chance to run the table. |

My last straw with Coker was broken when I saw them absolutely quit against LSU. I've been a Cane fan since Jan. 1984 (I was just 9 then) and had never seen a Cane team just lay down like that. Sigh. |

Miami, much like FSU, can't take anything for granted these days. Both programs have a major problem with coaching staffs and the development of their players. Like Grozny said, Miami has never recruited 5 star blue chippers. They were the best in the country at getting someone who was a raw talent, like Sean Taylor, and making them into All-Americans. For someone reason they have lost that. I think it's pretty wishful thinking to think the Canes can just turn it around this coming year and lose 1 or 2 games. Especially with five new coaches on their staff. I think it will take a few years to get back to the level they are use to. Unfortunately a few years is too long for Cane fans and Coker will get fired. Last edited by wedge : 03-10-2006 at 03:41 PM. |
