Marcus Banks has won the backup point guard job over Chris Quinn.
Coach Erik Spoelstra basically said he's going with Banks, the sixth-year veteran, over Quinn, the third-year player, because of his defense. That's no surprise.
Defense is the reason rookie forward Michael Beasley isn't starting. Spoelstra, in his first year, seems to be the type of coach who will favor defense over offense.
"Right now, I'm going to go with Marcus, simply because things have been going well the last few games," Spoelstra said. "But, again, it's not an indictment on Chris, the way he's been playing, because he's been playing very well earlier in the season... Chris will be ready and he'll probably be the more situational guy when we need some three-point shooting and spacing right...
