Cool Riley

Does anyone think that the Heat would be in the same position if Stan Van Gundy was coaching? Or was the coaching change the push that the Heat needed to beat the Pistons?

Re: Riley

Well you know Riley is a good coach and I don't believe that any team reaches greatness on the talent of their players alone. HOWEVER, this team is where they are today not because of Riley. Lets just say that he didn't do anything to screw up Shaq and Wade.

Riley will get you a handful of wins a year...but I am with Pete...the Big Diesel likes to have Wade at #2...there is chemistry there...(and talent)...and Riley is riding those two...I think Gundy could have had the same ride with this team.

Cool Re: Riley

Riley wants to win it so badly. He should have had 2 in NY. In '93 when Charles Smith spazzed out in game 6 and make a dunk shot and they could have beaten Houston in 94. They were up 3-2 in that series.

Re: Riley

I don't think Pat Riley contributes that much to the Heat. First of all, they have a bunch of proved veterans who should win a championship by themselves. How much can you coach All-Stars? They want to perform well on their own so you just have to sit back and relax.

I think Pat Riley is known for his classic hair-style as much as his coaching. I am not sure which plays a bigger part in his life, but he is definitely a good coach. I think he needs a bigger challenge than bring a group of All-Stars to the Finals. How about if he takes over the Knicks?

I am a personal fan of Stan Van Gundy because he was very courteous towards me when I confronted him in New York City. I was at a Broadway show and I went over to him and his children to tell him how sad I am that he will no longer be the coach of the Knicks. This experience was a long-time ago!
