Riley's gentle approach Quote:
Miami Heat coach Pat Riley said he's taken a gentler approach with this team due to injuries and circumstance. Less pounding in practice, not as much pointed criticism -- what he calls "professional respect" for a veteran team going through trying times.
But he said players haven't responded and that's a big reason why the Heat headlines are about its league-worst 9-36 record. Riley said the Heat doesn't practice or play hard enough, showing "a lack of respect for the game," and he takes the blame.
"Your team is a reflection, in a lot of ways, of its coach," Riley said. "What we are seeing more than anything else is me backing off to the point where it is really reflecting out there on the court."

Boy, I'll say they haven't responded. They lost to Toronto last night, 110-82. |
