Heat gets a do-over

The NBA has awarded the Miami Heat a do-over.

According to the Associated Press, "For the first time since 1982, the NBA is sending two teams back to the court for a do-over... The Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat must replay the final 51.9 seconds of their game last month because the official scorer ruled incorrectly that Shaquille O'Neal fouled out, the league said Friday." Atlanta originally won the game, 117-111, but the score will be reset to 114-111. In addition, the Hawks were fined $50,000 for failing to correct the mistake.

For first time since '82, NBA upholds protest requiring replay - NBA - Yahoo! Sports

Me neither. I'll go dig around, see what I can find.

Riley also coached the last game replayed under protest. His Lakers lost twice to the Spurs on April 13, 1983, when the teams played the final three seconds of a protested game and then a second game.

The protest stemmed from a Nov. 30, 1982, game won by the Lakers after a controversial double-lane violation call when Norm Nixon intentionally missed a free throw. Bob McAdoo, now a Heat assistant coach, was on the court with the Lakers for the protested game and the one replayed.

''It's hard for me to remember,'' McAdoo said. ``All I remember is us losing two games in one night.''
So that's the story. And both involved Riley. Go figure!
