While serving as a guest analyst on TNT's playoff coverage Monday, Shaquille O'Neal was asked which player he'd like to add to the Heat roster. "I'm going to have to go with Vince … 'cause Vince is there," O'Neal reportedly responded, referring to free agent-to-be Vince Carter of the Nets. "I think he needs a player like me that can get him to the next level. I can get him to the next level." So how serious will the Heat pursue Carter during the offseason?

Seems and odd choice?...but hey, he played with Kobe...how bad can Carter be to team with?...also, isn't Carter from the Florida area/...he might want to come back.

i think if Shaq and Wade can stay healthy Carter can bring them another ring then Shaq can retire on top

Vince will ended up the Clippers how would he help in south beach they need to get younger in think hes plays 2gaurd which is were Jsaon Kapnoo plays iand Kapnoowill in the longterm and the present im not saying Kaponoo is better but hes younger and in south beach younger is better buthe will land in La with the clippers

A valid point, sir Goth, but there is little question that - based on Riley's comments after the game four loss to Chicago - the team is now operating on an open-ended status. At the risk of being a lemming, I want to whole-heartedly believe this.

How many years does VC have in him? How compatible is he with a D-Wade/J. Kapono offense? After all, those are the two premier guards on the Heat who retain the youth required.

The Heat need forwards and a young, promising center. There is no better combo out there than Shaq and Mourning to coach up a prospective center, and I'd like to believe they fully understand this, not to mention both are heavy investors in the South Florida area.

Carter was a huge disappointment for the Nets this year. He consistently failed in big spots to make the shots when they counted. Look he's still good, but he's not as good as he once was and is on the downside of his career.

He should gotten that pass in the playoffs.
