Dwyane Wade injury

Miami Heat G Dwyane Wade dislocated his left shoulder against the Rockets yesterday. The extent of the injury isn't fully known yet, but he's listed as being out indefinitely. As Shaq told reporters after the game, "If it's not one thing, it's another... We've been through a lot this season." So how do the Heat recover from this latest setback?

Re: Dwyane Wade injury

If Wade is out for a lengthy time, they are out of the race. They can't do it without him. Shaq may be able to pull it together and dominate a game hear and there, but not the rest of the season.

Maybe he is learning from Shaq to save himself for the playoffs...

Re: Dwyane Wade injury

Couldn't he play with just one arm????? He'd still be better than half the guards in the east.

I wonder if Riley is having second thoughts....

Word according to Sonics announcer David Locke's blog is that Wade will be out about six weeks. Ouch.

Re: Dwyane Wade injury

Right now, the Heat are the 8th seed in the Eastern conference. If Wade is out for 6-weeks, when he returns there will only be maybe two-three weeks left in the season.

Ouch.

Re: Dwyane Wade injury

First, before I make my point, I want to make it clear I'm not pleased that Wade got hurt. Any significant injury to an athlete is serious & regrettable.

Now, with that stated, what the heck is with him having to be WHEELED out in a wheelchair with a separated SHOULDER! He didn't hurt a foot, ankle, leg, knee or hip. He hurt his shoulder. Why not just walk out. Now, even though I now live in Dallas, I didn't grow up here, and I am not a Cowboys fan, but give the man credit...Emmitt Smith played 3/4 of an NFL game with a shoulder separation against the Giants a few years ago. That effort elevated him several levels in my book. To see a man who is ridiculously over-paid to play a game STILL go out and take the physical contact a running back takes (at ANY level) with that type injury is beyond remarkable. To then see any other player have to be wheeled out of a gym with a similar injury is laughable.

Maybe this confirms what many have thought for eons...basketball players just aren't nearly as tough as football players.

Cool Re: Dwyane Wade injury

if Riley knew this was going to happen, he never would have come back.

Re: Dwyane Wade injury

According to the AP, "Heat guard Dwyane Wade will seek a second opinion early this week before deciding whether to rehabilitate his dislocated left shoulder or have season-ending surgery to repair the joint... If Wade chooses the rehab option, he could return to Miami's lineup in about six weeks, or with around 10 regular-season games remaining." So which do you think he'll wind up going with?

Re: Dwyane Wade injury

As truly worried I am that he could re-injure himself when (if) he comes back, I can't help wonder where he'd be put on the all-time great list if he leads the Heat to a repeat.

Yeah, I know it's pretty unlikely, but still.... crazier things have happened.

Right?

Even with wade, I really don't see them winning the East much less beating any team in the West this year. So if I were the Heat, I wouldn't take any unnecssary risks.
