| Re: Miami Heat struggling So glad you asked. Everyone immediately points to Shaq's injury. However, I can't accept the Heat are hopeless without Shaq in spite of the amount of depth this team retains. Take last night, against the Suns. Without Wade, no less. For three quarters, the Heat got mopped up (as expected) by Pheonix's relentless offense, and the starters couldn't hit shots for their lives (with the exception of Mourning and Haslem, who had decent outings). So in the fourth, down by as many as 22, Riley goes with the younger guys (Hite, Quinn, Doleac, Kapono, Posey). At 2:30 left, they were within 5... Nash hits a killer three ball, and the deal was set when Posey's triple went in-and-out on the ensuing possession. My point is, there is depth on their that needs to be exploited more. Antione Walker is having a joke of a season, and Payton is following closely. They have earned the respect of Miami fans forever with last year's amazing finals win, but it is time to move on. ''They're just so good,'' Riley said of the Suns. ``We got something going in the fourth quarter and made it exciting There was some hope at that time, but that team is a really good team. They belong at the top echelon.'' -Miami Herald quote of Pat Riley in today's paper. Riley............ take off your skirt, put on your pants, and play the young guys. Dammit. So yeah, that's what's wrong. |
