Ricky Williams talks about the future

Ricky Williams was asked at a Heisman Winners Association gathering about how he feels about his 4 years left as a NFL running back.
He says the limited action of the past 4 years has resulted in less wear and tear on his body and will result in success on the field. He's gained new insights and wants to leave a better legacy then that of a pothead who squandered a lot of talent.
Williams said that this never bothered him before until it turned into a negative legacy and its his responsibility to make the life of his family better by leaving on a positive not and for others to know that he is dependable.
After football he wants to pursue a career as a osteopathic physician and specialize in holistic medicine.

ProFootballTalk.com - RICKY WILLIAMS: “I’M NOT A UFO GUY”

What are you feelings and response to this??

Re: Ricky Williams talks about the future

Well, I hope he's genuine and he does get things turned around.
As it stands now, though, the legacy he doesn't want to leave is exactly the one he will.

I am going to go on the assumption that you dont mean what matters in life in general, but what should matter for him at this time. Otherwise I would have to borrow the soapbox from LSC or Goth.
As for Ricky, he doesnt like football, or at least the things that go with it. Ricky suffers from some kind of anxiety disorder and he does not like the public side of the game. He never intended to continue playing until he was all wore out and done. Most of the players have a game plan for life after football and until now Ricky didnt really have one. He just plans on that life after football a little sooner than most do. If he is truly serious about this and does what he says he is going to do, there is nothing wrong with it. Its a fine choice.

I am kind of surprised there hasnt been any cracks or comments about the osteopathic career and the holistic approach to medicine.

Ah, yeah, I see... yeah, I guess I sort of agree with you on that. I mean, there are some home remedies that work, but some of it just seems out and out goofy. Whoops, guess we're getting off topic here, ha ha! Well, at any rate, it is good that Williams is starting to think about life after football, because I seriously doubt he has much time left in the league.

I beg to differ...the lady already comes with a soap box in hand...LSC's box is just a bit taller and gilded in goal...

Re: Ricky Williams talks about the future

Ricky is a bad dream and story that just doesn't seem to go away. He owes the Dolphins around six million and wonder how the Dolphins ever get any of that back? LOL

P.S. I agree with Seahawker...holistics is a bunch of crap. My roommate tried it when she had cancer as a last resort two years ago. It didn't work, she died.

Re: Ricky Williams talks about the future

I have to say though that Ricky Williams has a good gig in Miami as the backup to the oft injured Ronnie Brown. Brown is coming back from a torn ACL so Williams will get some time to show what he's got. We all saw what under useage at the hand of Al Davis did for Marcus Allen after he left the Raiders and became a Chief. Who knows?

And he only played in what was it, one game last year before he got hurt? He will get his chance this year as you said and from what I saw before he went down in that game he still had it. Thing is, he has been out of football so much, not sure if his body can take the beating. But then again, maybe that will make it fresher.
Regardless of how it plays out, I dont believe he will stay in football after his contract is up.
