Dolphins will draft Jake Long

I already posted about this in the NFL Draft forum, but...
The Miami Dolphins and Michigan OT Jake Long have agreed to terms on a deal. Long will be the #1 overall pick on Saturday.

Re: Dolphins will draft Jake Long

I'm sure they exhausted all trade possibilities so hard to argue with the pick. Long is exactly the type of OT they need to be the base of that offense.

Re: Dolphins will draft Jake Long

I like the choice. I thought they were gonna go with Chris Long but Jake Long is a great start for this massive rebuilding of a team. They are drafting him to be the anchor of an offensive line and that's a wise move. Reminds me of when the Rams took Orlando Pace like 11 years ago. That worked out well and now i'm curious who Parcells who has a very good eye for talent drafts in the other rounds like I said. I'm a little surprised the didn't trade the #1. I mean they have so many needs and Parcells is crafty in those late rounds. Either he's enamored with Long or nobody was offering a suitable deal.

Smart move, it wouldn't of mattered if they took Ryan or McFadden, they would've been murdered. So much for Jeff Ireland going defense.

Actually, rumor has it they're going back to Michigan for their next pick, Chad Henne. That's what ESPN is reporting, anyway.

They'll probably have to trade up then, because I really don't think he falls to pick 32.

I don't like how he moves in the pocket...not sold on Henne...what pick are they using on him?

Long is a great selection and the only way they should have really considered going with that pick. I have heard Flacco, Brohm, Henne, or D-line with the 2nd round pick. Personally I like Brohm better than Henne and I know next to nothing about Flacco, but I think there is a decent possibility that all three are around at that point.

He is certainly rising up the charts as the draft approaches, but I am not sure he gets into the 1st round. Have you been hearing otherwise though?

I also would take Brohm over Henne.

I've heard as high as the Panthers at 13, some have said the Bears at 14 (which won't happen), but yeah he is soaring up the charts.

He took a lot of snaps in college and has an accurate arm, so his risk is not as high as some of the other QBs...I really thought he would be a top 10 player.

Wow, didn't realize he was having a meteoric rise like that. I just don't buy him as a first round talent, I think you could easily get a comparable QB in the 2nd or possibly 3rd round. I suppose I could see a late first round team taking a shot, but 13th or 14th is just bad value.
