| Dolphins may eye Williams Williams is a candidate to become coach of the Miami Dolphins, according to a news report. It is widely believed that Bill Parcells, Miami's new vice president of football operations, is considering some of his longtime associates to succeed Cam Cameron, fired after a 1-15 season, with Dallas assistant head coach Tony Sparano seen as the leading candidate. As of Sunday night, the Dolphins had not approached the Redskins for permission to interview Williams, league sources said. It would not be surprising, however, if Miami contacted Washington today regarding Williams. Under league rules, teams have 24 hours to inform coaches about formal interview requests. Williams often has expressed how much he enjoys his position and working under Gibbs, and he would be considered a top candidate to replace Gibbs when the Hall of Famer decides to give up his coaching duties, but he probably would meet with the Dolphins if they pursue him. washingtonpost.com
