Bill Parcells Accepts Dolphins' Offer

The Miami Herald is reporting that the Miami Dolphins and Bill Parcells have agreed on a four-year contract that will give Parcells control of the franchise's football operations.

A word of caution: This is Bill Parcells we're talking about. He could just as easily back out of it tomorrow.

But it does seem like he's really going to leave ESPN and take this job. Miami owner Wayne Huizenga has apparently told Parcells that he won't sell the team and that Parcells can hire his own coach, his own general manager, and anyone else he needs to bring in.

That's no surprise: Huizenga has always like big names running the football side of things, from Jimmy Johnson to Nick Saban. But Parcells is the biggest name yet, and Dolphins fans should be thrilled that they'll now have someone with a proven track record running their team.

Two people who shouldn't be thrilled: Dolphins coach Cam Cameron and general manager Randy Mueller, both of whom are likely out of a job.

He can go shoot a round of golf and not screw the franchise worse than what it is...and I doubt the man would have used a top 10 pick on Ginn Jr. either.

Parcells is the guy who can turn this team around, well he can't make them any worse.

Cool Re: Bill Parcells Accepts Dolphins' Offer

It's a great move for the Dolphins. Parcells has turned every single team around that he's been involved with.

Is it a definite thing? Because Parcells is the most indecisive person in the history of the universe when it comes to accepting jobs.

true, but he just ditched atlanta so I say he keeps his word on this one..Miami has the better upside than Atlanta does. Falcons are a total disaster..Miami is on the upswing..

He has had his day...let sleeping dogs lie...I don't think he has the stomach for it, or for the egos of players any more...

I bet you Cam Cameron is gone now, because I know for a fact that the tuna wouldn't be crying after getting his first win in week 15.

Re: Bill Parcells Accepts Dolphins' Offer

Im very excited about parcells accepting this position....if he makes the right moves by firing mueller and cameron who have completely destroyed the dolphins franchise....honestly getting rid of chambers and welker???? what is that??? passing up on Brady Quin for a wide reciever.....what a joke...the play calling this year is just pathetic....with better coaching those 6 loss's this year by three points or less could have been possible win......the only thing i did enjoy was the short lived return of ricky williams.....So go Parcels

Without a doubt. And he's not coming to leave things alone. He's taken the job to rip it apart and build it back up.

This still shocks me. Who did they have that they thought was better than Quinn? He hasn't even played in the pros yet,and he is better than the QBs that Miami has been throwing out there. I always thought this was a position they needed badly.

Parcells wants to do the grocery shopping and not cook someone else's dinner.

Agreed. It's not (entirely) his fault that this team is such a mess. There's a lot of rebuilding to be done.
