Look For Ricky Come September

According to ESPN, running back Ricky Williams will apply for reinstatement to the league in September. Williams will be released or traded by the Dolphins if he is reinstated. The Dolphins will probably try to retain his rights and get some value for him in a trade, especially if there is a need for running backs come September.

As much as I'd like to think there wouldn't be any takers because of his history, there would be.

Its like flipping a coin, youve seen what he can do at RB in the past, the question is can he stop puffing the magic dragon..

Personally, were I a GM, I wouldn't want to touch him. Give me a slightly inferior back I can count on to be there in Week 17.

Anyone would have to be nuts to take a chance on this guy. No way he will be there when someone needs him.

In 2002 he had 1853 yds with 16 tds, thats why someone would take the chance...some desperate RB needy team will pick him up and it will be either hit or miss..I think if he puts down his pipe he has a good chance to be a an effective back again..

Yeah, he could be an effective back again. But he's not going to put that pipe down and those 1853 yards were almost 6 years ago. Unless he has some magic pixie dust in that pipe that keeps the years from advancing, he's not exactly gametime ready.

Absolutely. Those are impressive, but six years is an eternity in pro football, and he's not that guy anymore, in more ways than one.

Cool Re: Look For Ricky Come September

If I were a GM, I wouldn't go near him at this point.

The man don't have the will...look, I was a big Ricky fan...heck of back, back inthe day...but its seven yers later...and he is not about to stop...no way in heck...Ricky is just Ricky and football may or may not be a thing he is into from moment to moment.

Couldn't agree with you more. It's not like he showed a lot while he was in the CFL, anyway, so even if he stays clean there's no guarantee you're going to get a halfway decent running back.

Re: Look For Ricky Come September

If he comes back to the Dolphins, I am going to tell my grandson to start wearing black. His team will fall apart.
