Cut Daunte?

Should the Miami Dolphins cut QB Daunte Culpepper? Not yet, says Miami Herald columnist David J. Neal. "Why not wait until July or August?" Neal writes. "If Culpepper still looks like he needs to visit The Scooter Store, then cut him loose. Maybe you lose him for nothing, but you also give yourself the chance that he shows up at training camp closer to being the Pro Bowl quarterback he once was."

Why not? I mean, he's already under contract. Might as well see what he's got, right?

Re: Cut Daunte?

I heard talk that the Raiders may be interested in him. They may take Johnson instead of Russel if they get Daunte. That would reunite him with Moss and another WR threat. Has anybody else heard this??

how could i possibly stay away from this thread

The addition of Green would likely spell the end of quarterback Daunte Culpepper's tenure with the Dolphins. Culpepper, who is due to earn $5.5 million this season, didn't receive medical clearance to participate in this weekend's minicamp because of ongoing problems with his right knee.

Green trade imminent; Culpepper likely to be released: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

he isnt healthy enough to participate in a simple mini-camp then cut him loose or try and trade him

if the Raiders are stupid enough to take him and his contract then ship him to Oakland

Re: Cut Daunte?

Culpepper's downward spiral is sad to watch. It's not even like he can go to Oakland and play with Moss if they're going to take a QB with the first pick. You just hope the guy can get healthy first and foremost.

Re: Cut Daunte?

Daunte will catch on somewhere, I bet. You guys are right in saying he hasn't seemed like the same player since his injury, and I wonder if it's a health issue or he just isn't that good of a QB anymore. Some team will take an inexpensive gamble on him, just to see.

If I'm Wayne Huizenga, I'm filling up my private jet and placing a call to Daunte to let him know he's won a one-way ticket to California. Pick you up at 6.

What a disaster.

Cool Re: Cut Daunte?

What type of salary cap hit would they take if they cut him vs. not cutting him.

Personally, I think they would be nuts to pull the plug on him, now. Assuming he got healthier from last year, I think they should give him at least another year.

Looks like he's getting the axe...

I say dump Daunte, pick up Green for now, and - ready for this? - pick up Jared Zabransky (Boise State). Drop the bomb. Shock the world. This kid is for real, in my book.
