According to NFL.com, former Steelers LB Joey Porter agreed to a five-year, $32.5 million contract with the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday. It's not the quarterback the team so desperately needs, but they got themselves one heck of a linebacker. Fantastic signing. Their defense just got a whole lot better, IMO. What do you think?

Dolphins agree to terms with former Steelers LB Porter




The Dolphins have agreed to terms with former Pittsburgh linebacker Joey Porter on a five-year, $32 million contract, a source said today.

The deal is pending Porter passing a physical examination, which he is expected to take tonight or tomorrow.

The deal includes a $12 million signing bonus and another $8 million in guaranteed salary, a source said.

Porter was swayed to sign with the Dolphins after a Monday meeting with coach Cam Cameron and General Manager Randy Mueller in the linebacker's hometown of Bakersfield, Calif.

Porter signed with the Dolphins after drawing strong interest from Cincinnati, which was hoping to host him on a free-agent visit.

Porter, who was released by the Steelers last Thursday in a salary cap-related move, logged 60 sacks in his eight seasons with the Steelers while emerging as one of the AFC's top outside linebackers in Pittsburgh's 3-4 defense. The Dolphins deploy the same kind of defensive system and are in need of an outside linebacker

Yeah no doubt Lefty,Porter is a force at linebacker...i was hopeing the Cowboy's would have landed Joey,he would have been great in Wade Phillip's attacking 34 defense.
