Dolphins new coach

Who wil be the new head coach of the Miami Dolphins? The two leading candidates right now appear to be Jim Mora and Georgia Tech's Chan Gailey. According to the AP, "Mora met Friday with the Dolphins. He went 26-22 in three seasons with Atlanta before he was fired Monday... Miami also got permission Friday to talk to Gailey, a former offensive coordinator for the team. The Dolphins also planned to interview San Diego offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Ron Rivera and Bears offensive coordinator Ron Turner."

Rumors about Bill Cowher being a candidate persist as well.

Re: Dolphins new coach

Glad to see they are going after NFL coaches instead of college coaches except for Gailey although he was the Cowboys coach for a short time I still wouldnt want him coaching them.

Re: Dolphins new coach

So, when is Dan Marino gona decide it's time to come back in a coaching position? I know a few years ago their were rumors of him coming back in an operations position, but he would be a good off. coordinator!!!

Re: Dolphins new coach

Maybe more of a QB coach, I would imagine.

I get the feeling that they want someone with solid head-coaching experience - well, who doesn't - but I still cannot believe that Norm Chow isn't at least being interviewed.

Re: Dolphins new coach

Dan Marino on Inside The NFL said he has no interest in becoming a head football coach.

Out of the candidates, I think Cameron of San Diego deserves a shot if he wants it.

Careful with Marino as a head coach, remember Bart Starr's term as Packer coach! I think they just want to have famous guys on the sidelines running their team, they should look into a guy like Chan Gailey who is not that glamourous name wise but knows what he's doing ala Sean Payton and Eric Mangini.

Re: Dolphins new coach

Rumor is that the latest candidate is Chargers offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, but for him to be interviewed, San Diego needs to lose. So lots of Dolphins fans are rooting for the Pats right now, right?

Cool Re: Dolphins new coach

According to Newsday, Brian Schoettenheimer is still in the running.
Quote:
According to a league source, Schottenheimer is one of four finalists for the job opening created when Nick Saban left the Dolphins for Alabama earlier this month. The 33-year-old son of Chargers head coach Marty Schottenheimer has one year of coordinator experience to offer. But the Dolphins may be trying to replicate the luck the Jets found when they snagged Eric Mangini, a one-year coordinator, as their head coach a year ago. Mangini led the Jets to a 10-6 record and an AFC wild card in his first season.

Re: Dolphins new coach

Yep, that's what Fox Sports has been reporting. So I guess he'd have to be the favorite at this point, eh?

What do you Dolphins fans think about Mora as a coach? Based on his tenure at Atlanta, would he be a good hire, in your mind, or a mistake?

Re: Dolphins new coach

I hope they can land Chargers OC Cam Cameron & as for Mora, who knows. He had a couple of good years in Atlanta so he might be good a choice.

Re: Dolphins new coach

Yeah, with the Charger loss, Cameron is now officially in play.

So I wonder how soon the Fins will be on the phone scheduling an interview with him...

Re: Dolphins new coach

I just read a on InsideCarolina.com that there are some rumors out of Atlanta that Gailey is going to be the next head coach. Interesting.
