If Saban Leaves, Who Coaches?

There are tons of rumors that Nick Saban could be heading to Alabama to coach the Crimson Tide. If that does happen, then who would be the favorite to takeover for the Dolphins?

Cool Re: If Saban Leaves, Who Coaches?

How could he leave? Doesn't he have a contract? If he did though, How about this for a crazy idea? Shula who was just fired from Alabama - David or Mike - I forget which one. It would just be a trade of coaches.

Contracts in pro sports these days mean as much as the paper they're typed on.

Re: If Saban Leaves, Who Coaches?

Now that Saban is gone, three candidates have immediately emerged, two of which are already on their staff -- Mike Mularkey and Dom Capers -- and former Dolphins interim coach Jim Bates is the third. Any of them would be a good choice, IMO, but I think the edge has to go to Bates (he's the guy the players want) followed by Mularkey and Capers as the #3 candidate. What do you guys think?

Re: If Saban Leaves, Who Coaches?

I always thought Mularkey got a raw deal in Buffalo and deserved a 2nd chance somewhere as a head coach.

Re: If Saban Leaves, Who Coaches?

Jim Bates should be given a shot. They really should have hired him several years ago instead of going after Saban.
