| Top receiver to miss spring practice Top receiver to miss spring practice By Phil Stukenborg (Contact) Friday, March 7, 2008 When the University of Memphis opens spring practice March 18, Duke Calhoun, the team's leading receiver last fall, will not be in position to catch a pass. Calhoun, who caught 62 passes for 890 yards and five touchdowns as a sophomore, will miss spring practice while he recovers from offseason knee surgery. Calhoun underwent anterior cruciate ligament surgery in January, a month after the New Orleans Bowl game against Florida Atlantic. He is expected back by fall practice in August. "He'll be close for August," Tiger coach Tommy West said. "We think he can make it. But he's going to have to really rehab. But it's going good right now."
