| Walton to be named Tiger assistant The University of Memphis will conduct a press conference at the Athletic Office Building at 10 a.m. today to introduce Tim Walton as the football team's new defensive coordinator, according to sources familiar with the situation. Walton, 36, a former Tiger assistant, served as defensive coordinator for the University of Miami last season in what was his fourth year as a Miami assistant. He spent the weekend in Memphis re-acquainting himself with the city and a program where he coached defensive backs in 2000 and 2001. After leaving Memphis, Walton, a former Ohio State defensive back, coached single seasons at Syracuse and LSU before joining the Miami program in 2004. He will replace Rick Kravitz at the UofM. Kravitz was fired last week after one season at the UofM. Walton to be named Tiger assistant : Tigers : Commercial Appeal
