Just over two weeks ago, the Suns and Dallas Mavericks met in Dallas, and the game was a double-overtime thriller, with the Suns pulling out a 129-127 victory. The two teams met again Sunday – and Phoenix ran them out of the building. The Suns played maybe the best game of the season by an NBA team, beating the Mavericks 126-104 by shooting an NBA-high 64.8% from the floor. Their “Big Three” of Steve Nash, Shawn Marion and Amare Stoudemire combined to go 25-34 (73.5%) from the field, while the team as a whole also shot 57.1% from three-point range and was nearly perfect from the free throw line, going 22-23. As good as the Suns are, performances like that are unusual even for them. But the Grizzlies can’t let them get on a roll early tonight, and have to play them tight from the opening tip.
