Remember all those Pau Gasol trade rumors? Forget about it, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal, which is reporting "Team president Jerry West insisted that 7-footer wouldn't be dealt because the Grizzlies had received only lowball offers. So Gasol will finish the season in a Grizzly uniform unless suitors such as Dallas, Golden State, Boston and Chicago dramatically increase its bids. West didn't sound optimistic about a deal getting done." Think Memphis will make any deals before the deadline passes?

Obviously, the deadline has since passed, but I'm still glad that Jerry West didn't trade Gasol. There are not to many players as physically as imposing as he is at 7'0" with a freakish wingspan, and at only 26 years of age, he probably hasn't even entered his prime yet. It'd be a step backwards to trade him for the likes of Andrew Bynum or a similar prospect, someone who has the potential to be like Gasol four or five years down the road when the Grizzlies are staring the real thing right in the eyes.

You never know though. This is the same GM that traded away Shane Battier for Rudy Gay.
