Wide receiver Jamal Wilson of Chesapeake, Va., has committed to play football at Marshall, the Virginian-Pilot newspaper of Norfolk reported Friday.


Wilson, listed at 5-foot-11, 180 pounds, caught 35 passes for 528 yards in 14 games for Oscar Smith High, which finished 13-1 and reached the semifinals in Virginia’s big-school Division 6. He scored nine touchdowns, four on receptions, four rushing and one on a kick return.

He is the fourth receiver to commit to the Thundering Herd. The others have been junior-college products Charles Walker and O.J. Murdock and prep star Cory McCutcheon of Stone Mountain, Ga.

A grayshirt year will help him get to know the system and feel more comfortable in the classroom. That also leaves one scholorship open for the 08 class.
