| First off -- I think I'm the only person who thinks the Philadelphia Eagles can still win the Super Bowl. Garcia is damn good, and I don't see why they can't go all the way. If the Steelers could do it last year, the Eagles can do it last year. Maybe that's the formula for historic franchises who haven't won a title in a while... average season, then Super Bowl. This also spares you the heartbreak of an upset, as things can only get better. Anyway, I wanted to give you a list of movies you SHOULDN'T SEE over the holidays: ERAGON: You should only see this movie if you're obsessed with 18 year old novelists who write books about dragon racing and what dragon racing means to the human spirit. Why spend $50 taking the family to watch a movie about being 'the chosen one' to ride dragons. This will most likely lead to one of your kids riding the dog around the house the next day, resulting in an unwanted, expensive, Chistmas Day, Christmas-Story-esque trip to the veteranarian. Skip ERAGON. ROCKY BALBOA: I mean... c'mon. Instead of taking your kids to see this, just tell them the following. Say that you've got an "Inside Connection" with the President of Movies, and he gave you a DVD copy of what is supposed to be "the best sports movie of all time" -- but nobody else has seen it yet. Your kids are super lucky to have such a copy. Then put ROCKY (the first one) into the DVD player and let your kids enjoy a good sports movie (more on this at the end of this piece by the way). Skip ROCKY BALBOA. THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS: This movie looks like it's gonna be too pro-capitalist. A homeless man goes from living in a gas station bathroom to living the American Dream of shifting rich people's money around, (which ultimately leads to more homeless people). Strange concept. Skip THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS. CHARLOTTE'S WEB: I'm ready if you are -- let's boycott CGI talking animals. Charlotte's is a wonderful story, but I don't see the need to watch Julia Roberts and Larry The Cable Guy bring these characters to life (again). Then again, the next time you kill a spider in your house -- keep in mind that you just prevented it from helping a pig realize his dreams. Skip CHARLOTTE'S WEB. NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: Didn't we already see this -- wasn't it called JUMANJI? What is the fascination of watching inanimate things come to life? Is this really what Hollywood thinks is the extent of society's imagination -- daydreaming about the boring exhibits at the Smithsonian springing to life? There are some terrible things happening in the Sudan, and the budget of this movie should have been dontated to preventing the genocide. Then again, Robin Williams as Teddy Roosevelt / Sudan / Robin Williams as Teddy Roosevelt / Sudan / Robin Williams... whoa... this IS tough. Donate to THE SUDAN. BUT -- THERE IS ONE EXCELLENT MOVIE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON. It's called WE ARE MARSHALL, and there's this great site called The Female Fan that not only wrote an excellent review of the film, but actually went to a screening and Q & A session with the cast. You've got to check it out!!!! The link is in my signature below. Be easy, Kayla Crosslakes

| Re: Don't See Holiday Movies, Except -- MARSHALL!!! Being an Eagles fan, and a movie buff, I imagine you've seen Invincible, right kayla? Great movie, IMO. Can't wait to see We Are Marshall, but I's sorry to say I'll probably try to see both Eragon and Night at the Museum too -- the former because I'm a big fan of movies like that (Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia) and the latter because it looks like a good movie to take kids to. Philly not only has a shot to make the playoffs, but if they win out, they're NFC East division champs. How about that?

| Re: Don't See Holiday Movies, Except -- MARSHALL!!! We Are Marshall is an excellent movie. We saw it about a week ago, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There were a few minor flaws, such as players picking up a fumble and running with it (not an option in those days) and the coach calling a time out (a player on the field had to request one back then) but, on balance, it was a well-made, touching movie about a terrible tragedy and its uplifting aftermath. |

| Re: Don't See Holiday Movies, Except -- MARSHALL!!! Naw its poetic licensing...its like Papoli never scored in the NFL, played for the Philly Bells of the WFL, and never met his wife until later in his life...but it all got changed for the movie... |

Then this weekend my boyfriend took me to see We are Marshall and it was AMAZING. He even teared up. I loved it! What these two movies have in common is the following: 1. They are both based on true stories 2. They are both full emotion movies, sadness, joy, sitting on the edge of your seat, laughing, ect. 3. Movies that you could watch over and over again and will probably buy once they come out. I HIGHLY recomend both movies, and I rank them both two of the best movies I have seen! |
