LSU Tigers QB JaMarcus Russell

QB JaMarcus Russell took the LSU Tigers to a 10-1 record last year before going down with a shoulder injury, and his replacement Matt Flynn went on to earn MVP honors in the Peach Bowl. Russell is currently pencilled in as the starter for Les Miles' team, but Flynn had a better TD-to-INT ratio and passer rating than Russell last season. Is JaMarcus Russell really the right guy to try and lead the Tigers to an SEC title in 2006?

Re: LSU QB poised for title run

Well, I don't know about anyone else, but the author of the above story certainly seems to think Russell is the best QB for LSU. And he even goes a step further than that: "The race for the most talented quarterback in the SEC is such a landslide that it's not worth debating. Mobile native JaMarcus Russell of LSU is not only the most gifted quarterback in the league, he's the one player at the position who has a chance to to manage a game successfully and win games with his passing and running."

Best quarterback in the SEC? That's some kinda praise for Russell. Has he earned it?
