FBS Champ vs. FCS Champ

The season opening match-up between LSU and Appalachian State, which kicks off at 4 p.m. on Aug. 30 and will be televised by ESPN, will be a historic match-up.

According to TigerBait news services, "The game... represents the first time that a defending champion from the Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly I-A) will meet the defending champion from the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly I-AA) in the season-opener the following year." So will the Tigers come away with a blowout victory, or will this match-up be closer than the experts think?

The Michigan win was big, but how absolutely huge would a win over the defending BCS Champs be?

Enough to gain some serious consideration about adding them to the SEC and dropping Vanderbilt.

If that rumor is indeed true, this could be a very important audition for the FCS Champs.

I don't see that happening ever, if they do go to D-1 or what ever it is now, it will be to C-USA then to the Big East or ACC, I don't see any truth to that rumor.

Huge wouldn't be able to describe what that would be for them.

Bears I feel you ...BUT... let's play what if...

Applachian State beats LSU 21-20 in the opener does that change your feelings? After all the did beat the wheels off Michigan. Let's say they go on to win a fourth title in four years are they then qualified to move up? What about Vanderbilt? What do they bring to the table? App State brings a element of excitement and a untapped market in the state of North Carolina as far as the SEC goes. At first I thought it was just a joke... but in Boone they are deadly serious about jumping into the big leagues.

I could easily see them going to D-1 or FBS or what ever they call it now, but I think if they do, it won't be to the SEC, if they to go a BCS conference it would probably be the ACC, that is where the other three Carolina teams. They could throw Duke out.

Why would they want to throw out DUKE? That is an up and coming program. Coach Cutcliffe will make vast improvements there in the next four years or so and DUKE may actually become a contender for the ACC Football Championship.

Vandy is a solid program, they are just in the SEC, Vandy could make a bowl in the SEC.
