Everybody in Baton Rouge is sporting thier national title around town enjoying life.... but August is just around the corner and that means time to start defending the title.

Last year LSU was good not great but good enough to win it all. Will that be the case this season? Of course Athalons magazine expects them to win the SEC West but the competition has stepped it up a few notches. Plus your QB position is unknown and things arent quite what they were last year personell wise. So why should the fans be so excited about this season?

Clearly there will be QB questions and concerns and this will cause the LSU defense to carry them along early in the season. Things should get settled in eventually but until then the defense will have to be ready, lead by defensive tackle Ricky Jean-Francois.

Ricky could have an even bigger job to take on with Glenn Dorsey being gone. Those are clearly big shoes to fill but it is possible. However Charles Alexander, Tyson Jackson, and Kirston Pittman will return the make the defensive line one of the best in the SEC.

As long as an LSU QB can do decent and the defense does as good as it may be expected, LSU could come out one of the best teams for a second time.
