LSU’s Miles to earn over $3.75 million a year

By BRETT MARTEL, AP Sports Writer

NEW ORLEANS (AP)—LSU will make Les Miles the highest-paid head football coach in the Southeastern Conference under a renegotiated five-year contract agreement signed Friday.

Miles will earn at least $3.75 million plus $1,000 a year in a deal that nudges him ahead of Alabama coach Nick Saban and makes Miles one of the nation’s top-paid college football coaches.

Miles also is eligible to receive more money each year, depending on the team’s performance on the field and in the classroom.

The contract adjustment was signed Friday by Miles and LSU System President John Lombardi. The university system’s governing board must approve the deal at its April meeting.

Miles is 34-6 at LSU, with three lopsided bowl victories, since taking over for Saban in 2005.

So does this mean his contract was written specifically so he could make $1,000 more per year than Saban? Cause that's what it sounds like!

Miles’ new contract states he will be paid no less than the highest-paid coach at a public university in the conference, plus $1,000.

I like Miles as a coach, but that is incredibly petty.

Ha,hahahhahhha LES MILES? That would be like Florida giving Galen Hall coach of the year back in 1984. He did it with Charlie Pell's players just like Les did it with Saban's boys. That is hillarious, the cajuns crack me up trying to keep up with ALABAMA. Guess what? ALABAMA is on the way up and LSWHO is on the way down....way down... ya'll will be lucky to win 6 games this season.

Ha ha, here we go again. I remember this crowing from last season too. Bama was gonna be so much better than LSU. How'd that work out for you in 2007 Stoney? Just keep talking the talk. The LSU Tigers? They walk the walk.
