| Banged-up LSU notches win The concern for LSU women’s basketball coach Van Chancellor quickly turned from the outcome of Monday’s second exhibition game to the welfare of his team five days away from its season opener. The No. 5 Lady Tigers lost starting point guard Erica White in the game’s first seven minutes and reserve forward Kristen Morris with just less than three minutes remaining in an 82-51 victory over the Houston Jaguars before 3,072 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. “Personally, I don’t think we were ready to play,” LSU All-American center Sylvia Fowles said. “It’s not that we didn’t play hard, but we made a lot of minor mistakes that we just so happened struggled with.” The departure of White with a sprained right ankle at the 12:41 mark of the opening half was evident, Chancellor said, when senior shooting guard Quianna Chaney and fellow senior RaShonta LeBlanc alternated at the point guard position along with contributions from freshman LaTear Eason.
