BATON ROUGE -- LSU is back among the top two teams in the nation, according to the polls, back where the Tigers believe they belong.
The Bowl Championship Series standings released Sunday put LSU just behind Ohio State, but No. 3 Oregon is closing the gap.
The Tigers must play strong in their remaining games to realize their first preseason goal winning the Southeastern Conference -- and second goal -- having a shot on the field in the BCS title game, which will be played Jan. 7 at the Superdome. And while these goals are quite clear on the horizon, LSU Coach Les Miles still doesn't want to look too far ahead. The day after No. 2 LSU (8-1, 5-1) pulled out another stirring fourth-quarter win at Alabama, he chose to focus instead on the incremental improvement the Tigers need.
