| Miles says forget polls and clean up mistakes BATON ROUGE -- The message coming out of the LSU football headquarters is clear: Eliminate mistakes, play defense like disturbed crocodiles and don't give a hoot about poll voters. LSU (8-1, 5-1 Southeastern Conference) is No. 2 in the Bowl Championship Series standings, and feeling the hot breath of Oregon and Kansas on the back of its neck. One way to shed those followers would be for the Tigers to deliver some commanding victories in what, on paper, seem like mismatches, the first coming this Saturday at Tiger Stadium when Louisiana Tech visits on homecoming. But Coach Les Miles said Monday he is not thinking about the kinds of victory, just victory itself. The subjective voters who comprise the human element of the BCS might be swayed in favor of the Ducks or Jayhawks if those programs produce convincing wins while the Tigers continue to skate on thin fourth-quarter ice.
