Road ahead looks less treacherous for No. 4 Tigers

BATON ROUGE -- So this whole LSU football thing, at more or less midseason, how goes it?
By any reasonable standard, quite well. The Tigers are No. 3 in the Bowl Championship Series standings and No. 4 in the major polls, and both teams ahead of them in the BCS face tough games.
LSU controls its destiny in the Southeastern Conference, with a win over Alabama on Nov. 3 likely to send it to the SEC championship game Dec. 1.
