| Making A Point BATON ROUGE -- Another day, another rout for LSU. No. 2 LSU (3-0, 1-0 SEC) dispatched Middle Tennessee State 44-0 in workmanlike fashion Saturday night in Tiger Stadium. The game was pretty much over at 3-0, as it became immediately obvious the overmatched Blue Raiders could do zip offensively, and that made perhaps the most intriguing aspect for many of the 92,407 in attendance figuring out who would play for LSU. Coach Les Miles substituted liberally throughout the night, giving valuable game experience to many younger players. Not all of his personnel cycling was attributable to the blowout; in some cases injuries forced his hand. Most notably, fifth-year senior quarterback Matt Flynn did not play a down. Suffering from a high ankle sprain, Flynn suited up for the game, both feet swathed in so much tape it looked like he was wearing winter boots. Wide receiver Early Doucet, on the other hand, was not in pads. Doucet reportedly suffered a groin pull in practice late last week, and his status is uncertain. Sophomore Ryan Perrilloux started in Flynn's place and had a huge night. After LSU receivers dropped his first two passes, Perrilloux proceeded to complete 20 of his next 23 attempts, finishing with 298 yards and three touchdowns in less than three quarters of work. The scoring passes bring his season total to six. He also scrambled effectively, often on third down, including one 11-yard gain that ended with him diving forward for the last 2 yards to get the first down. MAKING A POINT- NOLA.com
