| LSU looks to ex-defenders to make impact on offense BATON ROUGE -- Offensive linemen spend their time trying to keep out defensive linemen. LSU's offensive line is benefiting by letting in a couple of defensive linemen. Senior tackle Carnell Stewart and sophomore Lyle Hitt, former defensive linemen, comprise the right side of the Tigers' line coming out of fall camp. Their development will be key for the Tigers, who return starters at the other three line positions and at tight end. Stewart, a former John Curtis defensive tackle, has stepped in for the departed Pete Dyakowski after making the switch more than a year ago. Hitt changed sides last spring and is trying to fill a gap left by senior Will Arnold's rehab from injury. Arnold, a pre-season All-SEC pick, had reconstructive surgery on his ankle and probably will play in a reserve role, at least at the start of the season. His work has been limited throughout fall camp. CROSSING A FINE LINE- NOLA.com
