Quarterback Matt Flynn tossed a pair of touchdown passes, including a 20-yarder to Early Doucet, and defensive end Tyson Jackson recorded a pair of sacks to highlight play on both sides of the ball here Saturday in Tiger Stadium as second-ranked LSU went through its third and final scrimmage of preseason camp.

The Tigers, who now officially turn their attention to the season-opening contest against Mississippi State, will take Sunday off and return to practice on Monday afternoon.

Saturday’s scrimmage featured both live and “thud” (no tackling to the ground) snaps and saw the first and second units go 37 plays. The Tigers also dedicated 25 snaps to special teams situations.

“It was a long scrimmage, but it was just what we needed,” LSU coach Les Miles said. “Our football team needed this day. I was happy coming off of the field.
