The LSU Tigers baseball team is in desperate need of consistency and pitching. Neither is surprising to the purple and gold faithful, but it’s not the best situation to be in as an extremely potent conference schedule looms.
Tuesday, the Tigers may have come upon their X factor. Benton’s T.J. Forrest was wildly impressive in his collegiate debut and appears to have given head coach Paul Mainieri an additional, unexpected weapon on the mound.
Forrest was an unknown commodity entering the 2007 season -- not because he’s a true freshman, but due to the fact he’s less than 11 months removed from a pitcher’s nightmare.
That April 20 Tommy John surgery is just a memory now.
