Brian Brohm's Heisman odds

Like Darius Walker of Notre Dame, Louisville QB Brian Brohm has the distinct disadvantage of being the second-rated Heisman Trophy candidate on his own team, behind talented running back Michael Bush. Of course, Brohm's no slouch - the 6-4, 224-pound junior threw for 2,883 yards, 19 touchdowns and 5 INTs last season and posted the second best passer rating in the country (166.7). So what kind of shot does Brohm have at being a Heisman finalist?

Re: Brian Brohm's Heisman odds

If Brohm can lead the Cardinals to a Big East Championship and beating West Virginia, I'd throw him in the runnning as a top 5 candidate for the Heisman. But his equally great runningback will probably hurt his chances in the long term.

Re: Brian Brohm's Heisman odds

The spotlight's on Brohm now, with Michael Bush out for the year with a broken leg. Brohm went 19 for 31 for 242 yards and 1 TD in Louisville's 59-28 win over Kentucky yesterday.

Re: Brian Brohm's Heisman odds

You have to think Brohm may try to overcompensate for the lack of Michael Bush in the backfield. If he does, it will either hurt the Cards or perhaps help them.
