Michael Bush for Heisman!

Okay, okay, I'm not starting an official campaign for Louisville RB Michael Bush or anything, but the kid certainly deserves more Heisman attention that he's been getting. Bush ran 205 times for 1,143 yards and 23 touchdowns last season - which led the nation in scoring, even though Bush played only 10 games in 2005. Imagine what he can do this season, as a senior! So what do you think of this dark horse candidate's Heisman chances?

So is this the offical start of a Bush II campaign?... Ithink Bush one was better, but hey, sure give the dark horse his due.

Re: Michael Bush for Heisman!

"A fast, punishing runner at 6-3 and 250 pounds, Bush could be the Reggie Bush of 2006," says Street & Smiths. So check one endorement right there. I'm telling you, the kid could be something special. Vegas has him at 20-1 odds to take home the hardware -- better odds than they're giving Auburn's Kenny Irons, Cal's Marshawn Lynch, Michigan's Chad Henne and Iowa's Drew Tate. So maybe calling him a sleeper or a dark horse isn't entirely accurate...

Re: Michael Bush for Heisman!

He'd have to have one hell of a year to be a serious threat in my mind. The Big East, especially, is among the lower conferences in terms of overall quality. That's probably the biggest knock against Bush, ranking of opponents. He's still a tremendous back, no doubt but nationally, he won't be considered the best. Of course, he could prove everyone wrong with a godly season, but that remains to be seen.

Re: Michael Bush for Heisman!

Strength of schedule could work for or against him, though. If his opponents really are that lousy, he could well put up multiple 200-yard games and possibly a 2,000 yard season. That'd still manage to get him a lot of attention from voters, especially if no one from the marquee programs steps up. So, yeah, maybe Bush is a stretch, but he definitely has the talent.

Re: Michael Bush for Heisman!

Well, any time you talk about a possible Heisman contender, you've got to watch out for possible injury, and that's exactly what happened to Michael Bush. The kid broke his leg in the opening game against Kentucky and is done for the year. Read more at the http://www.goteamsgo.com/forum/louis...s-leg-out.html thread.
