Home Crowd Environment?

Georgetown students and fans cherish this home court environment that they’ve built.

It wasn’t that way four years ago and now they are in the midst of first undefeated season at home(15-0) since the 1995-1996 with Allen Iverson.

With the student section in chorus to make fun of the opposing head coach and Jack the Bulldog parading wildly around, Hoya loyal will have their last opportunity to recognize that all of their peers who have spent the past four years of growing up and give it their all.

And the fans will come early as the Athletic Department has teamed up with Nike for the Nike Dunk promotion to reward Hoya fans for their dedication. The promotion will give out 150 limited edition shoes to a random drawing of students in line for the noon game before 10 a.m. The shoe is a Georgetown specific version of the Nike Dunk.

As Georgetown and Louisville meet again this Saturday for the Conference Championship, will the home crowd in their faithful Georgetown colored apparel help Georgetown to its first back-to-back Big East titles in school history?

Will the fans be a factor again to steer their mighty Hoya to preserve their home winning streak?

Will Louisville persevere with their 9 game winning streak and impressive wins in away games?

Will the game come down to the last shot?
I wouldn’t doubt it.

It would certainly punctuate the Big East’s regular season for sending a strong contingent to the NCAA Tournament.

It should be a great game to watch!

The No. 12-ranked Cardinals and No. 10 Hoyas will tip off at noon ET at the MCI Center in Washington, D.C., and the game will be televised nationally by CBS, with the winner of the game clinching the BIG EAST regular-season title.

Thanks Shorty ... I'll be watching that one. It's so interesting to see the Ewing, Thompson combination again.

Re: Home Crowd Environment?

Home court and home crowd did play at factor in Georgtown winning 55-53 as Louisville couldn't hit free throws and open look 3's.
Jerry Smith, Louisville's best 3point gaurd, missed a huge opportunity with a three point attempt in the last 30seconds of the game. He never misses those when he is that wide open....he did today.

Even though Louisville lost it was a great game of defensive intense pressure from both teams. It was exciting to watch someone steal the ball and a couple seconds later the other team steals it back. Then all the blocked shots and several ties and lead changes kept the suspense high.

These are two very good basketball teams.
Georgetown earned their victory.

The Big East may not get a #2 seed in the tournament but they sure deserve one.

I know that G-town did win the game but offensively they did a terrible job. 17 turnovers and Hibbard got only two points in the first half. His shot selection was terrible. For almost the entire second half the Cards used a full court press and it worked. Defensively Louisville deserved the win. It wasn't from the lack of effort.

thanks for the comment. No matter how much the fans have their rivalry, I still like KY basketball and football. I came from Texas to Louisville and now I am back in Texas. I am a fan of both. Happy KY beat Florida today!!!
