Parity over powerhouse

Parity over powerhouse

Big East commissioner Mike Tranghese recalled when Miami used to be the conference juggernaut, and he has no desire to return to those days. He likes the current parity, in which South Florida can knock off West Virginia and then lose to Rutgers.

"We've lived it for a while in the old league when we had Miami dominating," said Tranghese, who attended last night's game. "Now we have more balance. I just think what we have now is a lot more fun. It's more interesting.

"Our league is getting tough. In order for someone to get through without a loss they have to be a very, very good football team."
